The Sexual Assault Resource Centre Medical Services Clinical Information System (SARC-MSCIS) is a database management system that collates the sexual assault data for clients that are referred to SARC. The purpose of the SARC-MSCIS is to provide a data management system that maintains accurate and high-quality information on all medical and forensic components of sexual or indecent assault cases referred to SARC, which would allow audit and evaluation of the services provided by SARC clinicians and facilitate future peer-reviewed research. COLLECTION HISTORY Collection commenced: 2009-2015 Breaks in series: None Other details: COLLECTION METHODOLOGY Descriptive statistics obtained from the SARC information system for patients reporting recent sexual or indecent assault between 2009 and 2015. SCOPE AND COVERAGE Women and men over the age of 13 in the greater metropolitan area and rural centres close to Perth who have experienced sexual assault, and are seeking medical, forensic and counselling services, and who presented to the SARC. DEFINITION OF FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE N/A DEFINITION OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE Sexual assault - any unwanted sexual act or behaviour which is threatening, violent, forced or coercive and to which a person has not given consent or was not able to give consent. Sexual abuse - when someone in a position of power or authority takes advantage of a person’s trust and respect to involve them in sexual activity.
